Vanilla crescents are a delightful dessert that embodies the essence of comfort baking. These crescent-shaped cookies are made with simple ingredients, featuring a buttery dough infused with rich vanilla flavor and finely ground almonds. The cookies are gently baked to a golden hue, then rolled in a fine dusting of confectioner's sugar. Creating a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture, these treats can be enjoyed fresh from the oven or as a cherished gift that warms hearts and satisfies cravings.

Vanilla Crescents

Recipe:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/8 teaspoon almond extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/4 cups ground almonds

1/2 teaspoon salt

confectioner's sugar


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in vanilla and almond extracts. Set aside. In another bowl, whisk flour, almonds, and salt together. Beat into creamed butter mixture gradually. Divide the dough mixture into fours. Lightly flour the surface. Roll each portion into a 24-inch. rope. Cut crosswise into 12 2-inch. logs. Shape into crescent shapes. On an ungreased baking sheet, place 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool for 2 minutes. Dust warm crescents with confectioner's sugar. Makes four dozen.
