Recipe:
3/4 lb ground beef
3/4 cup dried bread crumbs
small onion minced
3/4 teaspoon cornstarch
1 egg beaten
3/4 cup light cream
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup burgundy
2 beef bouillon cubes
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
bottle of sauce for gravy
The day before serving:
Combine beef, crumbs, onion, cornstarch, egg, cream, and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Shape into 26 balls—brown meat on all sides. For sauce, stir flour into the rest of the fat in a skillet, stir in water, burgundy, bouillon cubes, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper, sugar, and sauce to make the gravy light brown. Cook and stir until smooth. Arrange meatballs in sauce and serve over mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
